Asteroids is the revolutionary new space shooter and and even more addictive remake of the 1980s arcade blockbuster. The game's graphics take advatage of Game Boy Color technology, while remaining backward-compatible with pre-existing Game Boy units. Activision's all-new Asteroids melds the classic gameplay and nostalgic sound effects with new hyperspace worlds, explosive effects, more enemies, more weapons, and more modes of intense gameplay. Look for the arcade version hidden in the game, plus a hidden ship in an exclusive Game Boy level. Brave a multitude of distinct space worls or "Zones," each comprised of several levels of advancing difficulty. Zones vary from a pre-rendered 3-D update of the classic to a Black Hole vortex and a world where hostile suns shoot arching flames. Equip one of three asteroid-clearing ships with two or more unique weapons hidden in each Zone. Search for ramming shields, bouncings lazers and homing missiles to add to your firepower in a single-player or multiplayer battles (via Game Link cable).
